The New York Botanical Garden is a five minute walking distance from The Bronx zoo. The garden is located in 200th
street and Kazimiroff Boulevard. Before the Garden was develop it had to go the court system to be establish. Judge Charles
P. Daly concluded that having a public garden for the people of New York to forget their problems and just relax for awhile
was a wonderful idea for the people of The Bronx and New York. In 1895 250 acres was set aside in The Bronx to develop buildings,
plants, and trees for the new garden.
The Botanical Garden contains one of the largest greenhouse in the world at the time and has more than 8,000 kinds of plants
around the garden. At the time the gardens where designed in a intricate matter having bridges built over The Bronx River
and water systems. The grounds around the garden are very extensive with paths and roads specially made around plants and
the buildings.
Today The New York Botanical Garden is a treasure chest of beautiful flowers and plants. For a small fee anyone can enjoy
peaceful relaxation in one of the busiest places around the world.
